General Stuff
Mercer Radio is the freeform college radio station for Mercer University in Macon, GA.
We currently broadcast only online, but, we are looking forward to talking the university into getting us an FM band.
Since March '06, we keep hours like Waffle House.
A Bit of History
This station is still in infancy, founded in Spring '05. The lead mover-and-shaker was Arjun, who became the Programming Director.
Interestingly, Mercer University was "one of the first educational institutions of the nation and the very first university of the southeast to operate a radio station"

Founded in 1921, its call sign was WMAZ, at AM 940. It sprung from a physics class project and within a year several professors were broadcasting course lectures on the air.
They even erected a radio tower over the chapel tower! Though today's Mercer Radio is not related to WMAZ beyond both being Mercer University projects, it's still a neat fact.
It would've been nice for us to have been able to use the old tower, but Mercer sold the station in the '30s and the tower was moved elsewhere.
